You may have heard of this exotic and far-reaching locale called The Galapagos Islands. Located on either side of the Equator in the Pacific Ocean, The Galapagos Islands have been an integral part of history and science since Charles Darwin ventured there in 1835. Darwin was on a special voyage to study the unique and endemic species found there. His research led to his widely accepted theory of evolution by natural selection. The extreme isolation of The Galapagos Islands located 1000km from continental Ecuador and the confluence of three ocean currents with ongoing seismic and volcanic activity have together resulted in the development of some very special and unusual animal life.
You may already know which week you would like to travel as Galapagos diving is good all year, but if you're not sure when to go, start by looking at The Year of Savings Specials for 2016 and now including the brand new dates for 2017!
The Galapagos trip can definitely be done with only a 7 day vacation booked, but we highly recommend you take a few extra days to also enjoy one of the most special destinations in the world!
Step 2 - Let us take care of all the logistics!
All you need to do is book your flight to Ecuador and then let us handle ALL of the travel arrangements from there to make your dream vacation come true! The Humboldt Explorer departs from San Cristobal port on Mondays, so we recommend booking your international flight to Ecuador so you arrive in either Quito or Guayaquil (airport code: UIO or GYE) on the Saturday before. This will ensure that if any luggage or flights are delayed you will still be able to make the vessel departure time on Monday.
While both Quito and Guayaquil are nice cities, we highly recommend staying in Quito if you are arriving a day early or are interested in staying a day or two after your voyage with us. It is an old colonial city with wonderful markets to visit or you can venture just outside the city to see cloud forests and volcanoes. Our Explorer Ventures Galapagos experts are happy to arrange a hotel and any tours as well as airport/hotel transfers to make your holiday worry free! You can even choose to arrive early or stay later in Galapagos to experience more of the wonders of these enchanted islands.
Each Monday, all of our guests will board a flight to San Cristobal where you will be met by a Humboldt Explorer representative and taken to the pier to board the vessel!
Our itinerary will take you to 18-19 scuba dives in all of the most fascinating locations including Darwin Island, Wolf Island and Cousin's Rock. During the week we will also provide 2 land tours to explore North Seymour & Santa Cruz Islands to see Giant Tortoises, Blue Footed Boobies and Frigate Birds. Sighting of Sea Lions and Marine Iguanas are also common.
