Galapagos Islands Diving Itineraries

You may have heard of this exotic and far-reaching area called The Galapagos Islands.  Located on either side of the Equator in the Pacific Ocean, The Galapagos Islands have been an integral part of history and science since Charles Darwin ventured there in 1835.  Darwin was on a special voyage to study the unique and endemic species found there.  His research led to his widely accepted theory of evolution by natural selection.  The extreme isolation of The Galapagos Islands located 1000km from continental Ecuador and the confluence of three ocean currents with ongoing seismic and volcanic activity have together resulted in the development of some very special and unusual animal life.

Two Liveaboards, Four Itineraries

Our four itineraries offer a week or 10 days of diving in the most fascinating Galapagos’ locations including Darwin Island, Wolf Island, and Cousin’s Rock (duration depending on the itinerary). During the week we will also provide optional land tours to explore North Seymour & Santa Cruz Islands to see Giant Tortoises, Blue Footed Boobies, and Frigate Birds. Sighting of Sea Lions and Marine Iguanas is also common.

Days aboard a Galapagos diving liveaboard, either the Humboldt Explorer® or Tiburon Explorer®, generally involve a 6:30 am dive followed by breakfast, a dive at 10:30 am, lunch at 12:00 pm, and afternoon dives at 2:00 pm and 4:30 pm (On days with long transits between islands, the number of dives will be reduced to 2-3 dives – see itinerary). Dinner is served at approximately 7:00 p.m. Under current National Parks guidelines, night dives and land visits are strictly regulated. The Humboldt Explorer and Tiburon Explorer must follow the schedule of islands and land tours as noted below.

Sample Galapagos Itineraries

Please note that these Galapagos diving liveaboard itineraries are examples only, and will change depending on local regulation, weather, and logistics at the Captain’s discretion. Currently, each week the vessel itinerary includes the same islands. The order of the island visits, however, is dictated by the Galapagos National Park and may vary weekly.
