Rachel Huber

Position: Marketing & Conservation

Years with Explorer Ventures: Started with Explorer Ventures back in 2008 as a dive instructor, and eventually switched over to working with the land-based team. “I have worn many hats”!
Living place: Squamish, British Columbia, Canada.
Business/Experience/Education backgrounds: “Education wise, I hold a degree in Tourism Management with a specialization in sustainable development. Additionally, I have a background in digital marketing and 5 years ago, I started a digital media business focused on dive travel. Over the years I have worked globally with a variety of scuba businesses and adventure tourism operators.”
Years Diving (or a bit of her passion for the ocean): “For well over 20 years now! I discovered my passion for the ocean young.”
Favorite place to travel/dive: “I’m a little biased! I started working with Explorer Ventures on the original Caribbean Explorer I in Exuma, Bahamas. I have fond memories of the tranquil waters of Conception Island which remains one of my favorite places. Two other favorite places I’ve dove, are Ushuaia, Patagonia at the bottom of the world for its’ location, and Galapagos for all the hammerheads!”
Favorite pastime/hobby: “Competitive sailing, mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, really anything that gets me into nature. I live in the ‘Sea to Sky’ region of BC, and try to explore both regularly!”
Something unique or little known about her: “I’m quite an adventure junkie and prefer living a nomadic life. Since I was 17, I have taken many backpacking trips visiting remote corners of the globe; I’ve solo backpacked South America, hiked the Annapurna in Nepal, and drank lots of Kava with Fijian Chiefs. My partner and I are currently converting a Sprinter Van into an adventure camper for biking and hiking trips around North America.”
Favorite quote: “My favorite poem is by Robert Frost: The Road Not Taken.”
