Years with Explorer Ventures: I joined Explorer Ventures in 2008 as a dive instructor aboard Caribbean Explorer I in the Exumas, Bahamas, then moved to Caribbean Explorer II in Saba/St Kitts, before transitioning to the land-based team. Over the years, I’ve worked across multiple areas of the business. I now support the fleet through marketing strategy and sustainability leadership, driving digital performance, content, process efficiency, and strategic projects across the organization.
Living place: Sooke, British Columbia, Canada.
Business/Experience/Education backgrounds: I hold a degree in Tourism Management with a specialization in sustainable development. My background spans more than a decade in marketing leadership and journalism within dive travel. I also founded GetKelp.com, an ocean education and media platform focused on seaweed ecosystems and coastal sustainability.

Favorite place to travel/dive: Conception Island in the Exumas will always feel like home. Outside the Caribbean, Ushuaia and the Galápagos stand out for their scale and wildlife.
Favorite pastime/hobby: Spending time with my family, traveling in our Sprinter campervan, mountain biking, gardening, and diving along the rugged coastline at home in British Columbia.
Something unique about Rachel: I’ve been traveling independently since I was 17, from trekking in Nepal to backpacking South America (over 50 countries), and still prefer the road less traveled.
