Our Highlights of 2020

A wonderful New Year has begun, let’s take a moment to look back on 2020.

As we begin the new year, we can only reflect on 2020 and what a bumpy ride it was! The world sure wasn’t ready for Covid and all the changes it brought – but we are proud to say that we, like many, have adapted and are looking forward to that time when life, and travel, returns to normal.  2020 was the year of resilience for all of us, and we feel that 2021 will be the year of renewal.  

Despite 2020’s ups and downs, we were reminded why we love what we do. It’s been wonderful communicating with each of you throughout the year – keeping you informed, connected, and excited for diving in our incredible destinations.  Your support, your positivity, and your dedication to our sport, has been very much appreciated.  The Explorer Ventures community has come together stronger than ever, and we’ve had some fantastic accomplishments during this remarkable year.  

2020 Highlights: 

• We celebrated our 34th year anniversary!  
• We successfully launched our newest liveaboard – Tiburon Explorer – in the middle of a pandemic. Located in Galapagos Islands, Tiburon Explorer made its grand debut in September, 15 months after starting construction with a 5-month shipyard shutdown thrown in. Tiburon is the model of luxury and takes adventurous guests to the world-famous sharky–islands of Darwin and Wolf. See it here. 
• We received 17 distinctions in the Scuba Diving Reader’s Choice Awards for Caribbean Explorer II and Turks & Caicos Explorer II, winning in many categories including best overall liveaboard, level of safety quality of berths, quality of food, level of service, and more. Read the article here. 
• We designed our new Booking Assurance – We pivoted and adapted to the changing seas of Covid-19 to ensure that you could have a stress-free diving holiday. Our specially designed Booking Assurance covers you, should you not be able to travel for a COVID-related reason.  See the booking assurance. 
• We upgraded health & safety policies. We re-examined, evolved, and upgraded our health, safety, and fire response systems onboard to ensure they were in ship-shape for our guests.  Read the policies here. 
• We hosted a virtual Happy Hour with Peter Hughes. If you missed our virtual happy hour with Scuba Radio where we answered your Covid-19 questions – no worries! You can watch it here.   
• We built a stronger community. Throughout the year, many divers reached out online offering encouragement and positive reviews. Our online community grew alongside our Facebook page, and we were able to meet so many new faces and friends. We were also able to focus on relationships with long-time guests, dive shops, and wholesalers. Our community is stronger than ever, and we eagerly await the day we can dive with you all onboard.  

In the spirit of renewal, we invite you to reignite your own passion for the ocean, for diving, for adventure, and for connection.
