PROVIDENCIALES, TURKS & CAICOS ISLANDS - April 9, 2016 - The Turks & Caicos Explorer II returns to Providenciales, TCI after a series of travels, adventures, and a major upgrade! On December 1, 2015, Turks & Caicos Explorer II started the transit to Mobile, Alabama for a major refit including the installation of two new John Deere engines, repainting of the hull, and various upgrades to the interior.
After six weeks in the shipyard, Turks & Caicos Explorer II was back on schedule and the beautiful newly refitted vessel and shiny new engines made the six-day crossing in heavy seas to The Dominican Republic for the start of the Humpback Whale season. Tom Conlin's Aquatic Adventures crew, as usual, were exceptional at reading Humpback Whale behavior and guided snorkelers on beautiful intimate in-water encounters with the whales. Every evening, Aquatic Adventures's crew provided informative and fun seminars educating guests on such topics as Humpback Whale anatomy, behavior, song, and studies based on the crew's extensive knowledge and experience.
Aquatic Adventures' wonderfully written blog documenting the weekly Humpback Whale encounters including stunning photography by guests and crew. See details of the blog here:
On Friday, April 8th, TCEXII began the transit from Ocean World Marina, Cofresi, Dominican Republic and arrived at French Cay, Turks & Caicos Islands in the wee hours of the morning. After docking at the Caicos Marina and Shipyard Saturday morning, the crew excitedly prepped the vessel for their first scuba diving charter since November! With a sold out charter and calm and clear seas ahead, guests boarded at 3pm on Saturday the 9th.
