The region has amazing biodiversity in the sea and on land. So, when you’re not in the water, you can take advantage of outdoor land-based activities to experience the different regions’ varied topographies of tropical forests, mountains, volcanoes, and waterfalls for a fun-filled, awe-inspiring, and cultural vacation.
Our fleet offers access to two popular scuba diving itineraries in the Caribbean. The Caribbean Explorer II travels between multiple islands including Saba, St. Kitts, and St. Maarten, while occasionally adding Nevis and St. Eustatius. The Turks & Caicos Explorer II cruises around the Turks and Caicos Islands and during the spring each year, ventures up to the Silver Bank for humpback whale snorkelling season. These unique itineraries mean you can expect to visit some of the best dive sites in the Caribbean. More on this in the next section.
Climate
The best places to scuba dive in the Caribbean depend on the regional territory and season. The region has a tropical climate all year round ranging from warm to hot with two rainy seasons that occur simultaneously with the Atlantic’s hurricane season. Not all areas are heavily affected by cyclones or hurricanes so it’s advisable to check the climate patterns of the island or area you want to visit.
Sea Temperatures
The water temperatures fluctuate from 25°C to 31°C (77°F to 88°F) degrees, which is a very comfortable temperature for diving. While it may seem that you don’t need a wetsuit for those temperatures, a thin wetsuit is recommended for long periods of diving, as well as for sun exposure and protection on night dives.
Aquatic Life
The top scuba diving destinations in the Caribbean boast an abundance of heterogeneous sea creatures making it one of the most biologically rich marine environments found in the Atlantic Ocean.
Common Sightings
Generally, you will find a multitide of vibrant eels, turtles, sharks, stingrays, and an assortment of colorful fish and marine vegetation. Occasionally you can encounter dolphins, or hear humpback whales passing by.
